News From Mr. Dougherty's Team at Bankbridge Regional High School

Students and staff in the South Campus High School at Bankbridge Regional School are looking forward to an exciting and successful spring. The theme for character education for the month of March was “Citizenship”. Students concentrated on developing social skills and studying citizenship. At the end of the month a student who demonstrated outstanding citizenship was selected and presented a certificate of accomplishment.

A Multicultural festival was held on March 19th. During the event each South Campus High School classroom selected a country to represent. Cultural information and cuisines were presented. Students rotated through each classroom in order to learn about the various cultures of the countries being represented. Many of the student’s parents also participated and toured with the students.

Students are in the process of reading Manic McGee in Language Arts class. In Mathematics and Functional Communications students are studying life skills which include budgeting, home improvement, grocery shopping, and public transit. In science and social studies student studies will include earthquakes and World War II. Transition class will continue to assist students in developing skills that will enable them to be successful and productive citizens.

Spring Break begins with a half day for students on Wednesday, March 31, 2010 and school will be closed from April 1 – 5, 2010.
