News from Bankbridge Development Center

2010 has emerged with a flurry of excitement! The students and staff at the Bankbridge Development Center have weathered the frenzy of snow, 100 days of school and are embracing an exciting 85 more school days for this year. We welcome Guy Davidson as Principal of Elementary Programs at the BDC, BBE and Preschool programs. Rosanne Carbonara is now an Assistant Principal at the BDC maintaining many of the daily assignments she has had for the past few years. We have been busy expanding our professional staff at the BDC and are happy to welcome Kim Esposito as one of our new Occupational Therapists in our clinical services department. Mark Borgesi, Stuart Slattery and Dan Talvacchio join us as paraprofessionals in our middle school and secondary programs. Welcome aboard!

Our students have been very busy over the past few months. We continue to expand our community based instruction program by visiting one of the local senior centers, Target, Pat’s Pizza, Pizza Hut and Shop Rite, under the direction of Doris Moos and Kim Alexander. Most recently our students have had breakfast and lunch at Nifty Fifty and are learning how to work in a library at GCIT as well as, enjoying the student center at GCIT.

The BDC high school students enjoyed a Valentine Dance on February 16, 2010 where they danced to High School Musical, Black Eyed Peas, Mariah Carey and the popular Chicken Dance.

There was a Spring dance on Friday March 19, 2010 from 6:30-8:30. Middle school and high school students and their families attended. It took place at the Bankbridge Development Center’s Multi-Purpose Room. Refreshments were donated from Highland Regional High School’s Soccer Booster Club.

We will be celebrating Spring with a concert on May 17, 2010 with performances by the Two Movement Groups, All A wing students, Erin’s, Mary Bernadette, Nicole, Jackie, Ashley and Sharon’s classes will be performing.
