Innovative Programs
Fast Forword:Founded in 1996, Scientific Learning combines the latest advances in brain research and proprietary technology to create products and services that develop learning and communication skills. Based on more than 30 years of neuroscience research, Scientific Learning's Fast ForWord family of products use patented technology to target the language and reading skills widely recognized as the keys to all learning. Each product's interactive exercises integrate proprietary CD-ROM and Internet technology to create an optimal learning environment that adapts to the level of each student. Patented Web-based tracking tools provide ongoing monitoring of each student's progress. KidBiz 3000: KidBiz provides a web-based, individualized reading and writing instruction solution for grades two through five that reaches every student at his or her level. Powered by a proprietary software engine that distributes assignments to the entire class, but tailors them according to each student's reading level, KidBiz enables teachers to customize content and monitor student growth with a simple click of the mouse. Reading selections are presented in the form of non-fiction news articles related to the content areas. TeenBiz 3000 Related to KidBiz, TeenBiz also provides web-based, individualized reading and writing instruction that reaches every student at his or her instructional level. TeenBiz is intended for use with students in grades six through twelve. Assignments are distributed to the entire class, but tailored according to each student's abilities. TeenBiz enables teachers to easily customize content and monitor student progress over time. TeenBiz is proven to accelerate reading comprehension, writing proficiency, vocabulary development, and high-stakes test scores. Study Island Study Island is a leading provider of internet-based state assessment preparation programs and standards based learning programs. Produced by Direct Media Network, Study Island offers students "a fun, practical, and user-friendly way to effectively prepare" for state mandated assessment. Each topic contains a straightforward lesson and assessment questions, with detailed explanations that provide automated instruction. Students can choose between traditional tests or interactive games as their learning method. Global Student Network Global Student Network is an on-line source for curriculum that is closely aligned with National content standards. Over eighty courses are offered, and delivered via the internet. All required course material is on-line, and access to the best library, museum, and educational sites is provided. Lessons promote an active learning style, encouraging the ability to read, think, analyze, and articulate thoughts. The Curriculum includes lessons that are heavily imbedded with streaming video, audio, and reference files. Scharf Learning Scharf Learning is an online system, based on the New Jersey Core curriculum standards, that supports HSPA, GEPA, and ASK testing. It provides individualized, self-paced instruction for students of all ability levels. Quality graphics, sound, and online presentation motivate students to improve learning, performance, and achievement. Brain Pop BrainPOP is an educational program that provides curriculum-based content spanning seven main subjects including: Science, Math, English, Social Studies, Health, Arts & Music, and Technology. It currently features more than 600 animated movies. Each movie is supported by activities such as a quiz, comic strip, experiment, and printable worksheets, all of which speak to kids in a language and voice that they can understand. |
